Dau Tieng reservoir is a popular choice for camping for those located in Saigon, and for good reason. The waters are calm and the woods offer many suitable locations for setting up camp in the shade (along with an abundance of firewood for campfires and bbqs). It is located around 2.5 hours away from HCMC. There are shops nearby so running out of food and water isn't a concern.
